You Have to Find 'Em Before You Sell 'Em
...A New Strategy For Developing A Prospect List?

by Terry Plank

A few weeks ago we decided to bring a full time sales person onboard. Don't worry, he won't be contacting you!

In developing a sales strategy, we developed an excellent process for establishing a prospect list using Zeus by Cyber-Robotics.

You probably know them as an excellent tool for developing Link Partnerships. But, there are other uses for Zeus' spidering of the Web to determine sites fitting a tight, target area of domains in a particular industry.

Let's say you have something to sell or market to companies that helps people find jobs or find candidates for specific job placements.

Begin by finding 100 keywords that will relate to these company domains you are targeting. Your 100 keywords phrases will be used to train Zeus for searching and developing its database of domains.

There are many ways to do that. You can search Google for "staffing companies" or "employment companies" and then cull keywords from the source code for the top 10 domain results. And/or use WordTracker.com and gather the relevant keywords from their database of 308 million search results. In half an hour, you will gather an excellent list of keywords.

Here is the list we developed initially: computer job listing, computer jobs, employment agencies, employment agency, employment career opportunities, executive recruiters, full time jobs, headhunter, information technology jobs, information technology projects, international job search, it careers, it consulting & staffing, it jobs, it outsourcing, it staffing, It staffing firm, job bank board, job bank, job listings postings, job placement, job postings, job search, jobs, part time jobs, professional staffing, project staffing, recruiter, recruiting, recruiting company, recruitment advertising, resumes, search jobs, staffing, staffing agency, staffing firms, staffing services, tech recruiting, technical recruiting, technical jobs, technology jobs, technology outsourcing, technology recruiting, temporary work, temp work, temps.

Next, enter these keywords into your Zeus program and let Zeus begin ranging far and wide on the Web to find all the sites related to this keyword list.

If you haven't used Zeus before, let me explain that Zeus will provide you with the following:
...a list of the email addresses found within the domain.
...a way to categorize all your domains to separate into a directory.
...the ability to launch a WhoIs search within Zeus for the contact information for the domain.
...a Comment area to record the contact person and phone number.
...the ability to search your Zeus database of domains from a variety of search parameters.

Of course, there is much more that Zeus does, but these are essential for developing your prospect list and beginning your marketing or sales process.

After you have 50 domains in your database, go into your Theme Site Viewer to set up your list. Assign a category for each domain, enter the contact information from your Internet WhoIs search within Zeus and select the phone number and other relevant contact information for the company. Zeus will cull the emails that are on the domain, but sometimes there is no email address found and the Administrative contact in the WhoIs is often a good email address to have.

Finally, decide if you are going to contact your list using email marketing/sales or by telephone. If you choose to contact by email, then Zeus will help you to store a variety of email messages for a personalized message to be included in each email contact you might have for initial, follow-up or final contact.

I've noted that a sales email received that is not asked for is considered spam. It can illicit an angry response or a complaint to your service provider. It can also reach the wrong person and be deleted.

However, a phone call allows you to get the appropriate individual in the company and while you may get a hang up, you don't usually get an angry response to you or to the phone company! You just need to set up your own system of management for the telephone contact.

Keep expanding your Zeus database of domains 50 at a time for as long as you want to expand your prospect list or until you run out of prospects!

If you don't own Zeus, you can proceed through our special discount page and if you decide to try it out, you will save $36.00 on the purchase. http://www.cyber-robotics.com/ACWS-Discount.htm
